Magento: Popular eCommerce Software

A lot of Indian ecommerce sites are plain-vanilla implementation of open source software, so we thought why not share some of the popular ecommerce software available in the market. A Feb 2012 ecommerce survey , based on study of Alexa top 1 million sites found out that Magento is the most popular ecommerce software followed by Zen Cart.

The survey visited each site and analyzed the HTML document against a set of rules that detect the use of any one of 40 different eCommerce platforms. The most popular platform was Magento, with 6,795 sites, a 20% share of eCommerce stores found. In terms of popular enterprise products, IBM WebSphere and ATG rule the chart (among top 100K sites).
